Maatschappelijk doel

WPRG B.V. steunt elk jaar een aantal projecten in binnen- en buitenland.  Elk doel staat in het teken van educatie en onderwijs van kansarme kinderen. Vandaar dat wij het werk dat Lea in Mombasa gaat doen van harte ondersteunen.

 

Onderstaand kunt u een introductie lezen over dit project. Lea zal proberen gedurende dit project een aantal keren te schrijven over haar bevindingen.

 

 

"Hi, my name is Lea Smith. I would like to introduce myself because I am going to volunteer in a school in Kenya for 8 week. I am originally from South Africa, but my family moved to England when I was thirteen. I studied Sociology in London for three years. The last year I have been volunteering in the Shelter in Amsterdam. In March I will go to assist teachers in a school called El Roi in Mombasa. The school is for children from poor backgrounds and is mostly run by a woman called Christine and some volunteers. The School is not recognised by the government because the children are too poor to buy school uniforms and books. The teachers do the best they can with the resources they have, but need support from volunteers and sponsors. For these 8 weeks I will be sponsored by WPRG and Vink Vleeswaren. I am grateful for their support because they enable me to spend these weeks helping in the school. This is something I think the children and teachers also appreciate. The children I will be working with have not been blessed with all the opportunities I have, so I find it a privilege to support the teachers and children in this way. It is exciting to look forward to the different ways I can get involved when I am there."
